17 to July 25, 2009 I went as a trainee in the course of L'Aquila Professional Counseling of Verona, the project CTF ( Camillian Task force ) organized by Camilliani . I left full of enthusiasm , along with two other colleagues, at the same time, however, I was afraid of not being up to the task. The best thing was to share the experience with two other people, which there was a lot of help from the earliest moments. As soon as you arrive in Coppito , where there was the headquarters of Caritas Aquila (a conteiner of luck) we were greeted by Angel, Deputy Director of the Centre, and is with him that we started to deal with tiredness and fatigue that the earthquake and its aftermath resulted in the heart of L'Aquila. After settling in a small inn for the night, the next day we walked in the heart of the Eagle, making contact with people on the street that, with the opportunity to request information , you opened your heart, letting you share of their situation. As people we stayed impressed by the tenacity of these people, so tried by devastation caused by the earthquake. We moved in front of the story of their experience, the pain experienced at the loss of loved ones, home and in their city. We shared listening to their stories, the effort to ascertain the impermanence of life and uncertainty for the future. We breathed in the air caused by the voltage shock that seemed to never end. At the same time, we admired the fortitude of many of L'Aquila, the determination in trying to revive and revive their city. Often I, Michael and Lara (the two traveling companions) we found speechless in the face of stories that gradually arose from the people I met. Each word was full of meaning and full of emotion, sometimes difficult to sustain. During the moments of update and training we tried wonder so many young people and adult volunteers in meeting both the Caritas both the Civil Defence ready to give their discreet but sure to help and support those who are lost and no points of reference on which to lean. We have firsthand how the pain can occur in many ways, sometimes through silence, sometimes in copious speeches and without brakes. However, we found lot of loneliness, but also a great desire to share their situation. We have seen in the elderly tend to let go. Many of them are in fact dying, as we told the responsible of local Caritas. But some of them, sustained by the affection of their loved ones, seemed to face the grief of their losses, clinging to the memories and giving voice to their anguish through song. With these it was natural to share a hug, a caress, which was a thank you from my heart. We felt the weight and effort to get in touch with a pain so generalized , where everything seemed to be buried under the rubble, such as those encountered along the main streets ancient city. During several days Michael has stopped to support the operations of Caritas local too 'they need to hear. Me and Lara instead we went around the city to accompany two older brothers who got their bank reference, to retrieve the money that the board did not arrive. It 'been very auspicious occasion for the experience disorientation and fatigue exhausting having to run dry, could not find his way and without adequate information. The other mornings and afternoons we were committed to listening to both people met in the various tents, both of parish priests who were entrusted to us by the operations of Caritas . Many have been important meetings , even had the evening at the hotel, where we met with the workers engaged for the construction of new homes. Even with them, we shared our experiences and their emotions. Listening to their questions and their provocations urged us to search together for answers, without presuming to impose our beliefs, but by putting on their side as people in research and on the road. There remains in the heart of the slogan printed on T-shirts operators Caritas " TERREMOTOSTO . The experience has been enhanced thanks to sharing and comparing that daily did between us, supporting one another. We who were arriving by the project to help the earthquake victims have received much more than what we have won.
